waste of money. If you gonna do a build mike just stick with the engine you have now and build that up. The only other thing is go the s15 engine thats a top engine but once again i would rather save all that money that would be spend on engine swapping etc and just do a build on your engine. Its quite a recent mod 95 isnt it.

I hear that the non vvt model SR20's head flows a little better, probably why some D1 S15s have S13 motors (or heads at least) on them.

yeah, that makes perfect sense. the following model engine with a bigger turbo and more power would have a less efficient cylinder head.

the D1 guys using S13 engines in later model cars probably have them on hand, and are using a setup they have experience with, and are happy with the output of more so than because it's better std. those engines are about as similar as something in a V8 supertaxi and a production SS.

Justin...

p.s. the later model engine will perform considerably better, providing you get everything, ecu, loom and the engine. not worth the extra cash unless your current motor is stuffed though.

VCT Gives more low-down grunt, not necessarily top end. if i were u id stick 2 what u have and spent the money on that.

maybee some VCT SR20 heads are replaced with the S13 heads (non VCT) coz they are probably running adjustable cam gears, which means the VCT is therefore out of action, and the S13 head may flow better.

S14 and S15 engines are pretty much the same except for the BB turbo in the S15.

But the most noticable difference is the exhaust note between VCT and non VCT..

love the growl of the black top!!

Vct tends to crap itself every so often and is expensive to fix, that would be my reason for choosing the earlier design engine, that and the lower

cost.

Although the vct type engine would tend to be newer and in better shape generally.

A couple of things to consider there.

Vct doesn't help much when your making big power it basically makes your engine run like it has a small camshaft at low revs, increasing the

power and torque at low revs - thats about it.

I'd go for the non vct engine personally.

yeah i talked 2 the guys at bell performance and they said best to use a s13 motor as the s13 head allows better flow then the vct motor, thats why most jap drifters use s13 motors in there s15,
