Should be a quick question.

I'm trying to confirm my understanding of the bushes on my aussie release S15.

There's no HICAS system on the aussie deliveries, but they still have the big squishy bushes on the suspension that would allow the HICAS to push things around? And without the HICAS system holding things in place, the bushes will squirm under working loads and make handling a bit vague.

So, a simple mechanical HICAS locking bar is a simple way to stop this happening, or an alternative is to replace the big fugly bushes with something more solid; for example Whiteline were offering that path in a package.

Simple as that? All correct?

I see hicas cancel kits, but most of them have an electronic component, and shims to lock something up, and probably other bits. I think I've only seen a few adverts offering a simple locker bar; a pipe with two tags on each end to stuff under the bolts on the bushes or something.

not quite, though hicas equiped s13's have the same hub/carrier and the bush you are talking about is replaced with a ball joint in the hicas models.

Your subframe isn't compatible with hicas either, and neither is the diff backing plate so you are stuck there.

In theory the ball joints are better as there is bugger all movement.

In practice, either the rack ends or the outer ball joints tend to flog out around 100k and the outers are a prick to replace.

Not to mention the other 6 rubber bushes per side allowing compliance....

do all the bushes or don't bother at all. If your car is only 70k old you will not notice the benefits on the street, and probably not on the track either.
