Hi peoples,

after a digital bicycle speedo as the speedo in the 180 is rooted and is out all of the time depending on what tyres are on the car. With these you just calibrate the wheel size and presto, accurate for the new combination.

I was hoping to find ones that record some sort of performance timing but I don't like my chances. If anyone knows of any good ones can they please tell, I was thinking Sigma sport because they go to 300km/h accurately (ready for the twin T88 conversion :D ) and have an accurate oddometer so I could record rough quarter mile runs with a stopwatch.

Either way I'll post up how it goes and probably do a page on the whole thing.

Any good Bicycle shop would have one. Clarence Street Cyclery in the city, Wooly's Wheels on Oxford street Paddington are just 2. Theres probably one in Parra.

Ended up buying a Sigma Sports BC600 for $48.50 from a local bike shop.

I couldn't find any on the net that had performance timing like I am after, so I just went for a renound brand. It goes up to 300km/h accuratelt supposedly. Wasn't too hard to install on the car. Trimmed and super glued the magnet onto the inside edge of the front wheel, and then mounted the pickup on the part of the suspension that has two large bolts holding the strut.

Not any good for acceleration as it doesn't refresh quick enough to be accurate until you hold a fairly constant speed. When you do this however it is quite good, and you can compare how much the speedo is out by.

Not a bad little toy.

So how much is your speedo out by, say at 100km on the bike speedo?

Just curious...;)

my cousin did that on his GSXR-600, disconnected the actual speedo and hooked up a bike speedo so he wouldnt clock up any KM's

lol bastard, guess it worked tho because he sold it within 1 day of advertising it, ofcourse tho the rims were dipped in gold paint , the visor was tinted and it did have a yoshimira race pipe...

The speedo is out by about 10%, or just a little under. My Silvia had similar sized tyres on it before this and was measured to be out by around 10% on the dyno, so I was expecting the same which it was.

I'm not going to disconnect the original sppedo, it is still the best thing to look at under acceleration, the new one is very good though for constant speed cruising. Will post a few pics soonish.

Is that 10% above or below? eg. 110km or 90km when it reads 100km?

The speedo reads 110 when only doing 100km/h.

Remember that this is with non standard tyres sizes. 205/60 R 15 is factory with 627.00mm diameter and mine are 205/50 R16 at ~611mm.

That's why I got the bike speedo, because unless I get factory size tyres, (and very few others come close enough to be accurate) the speedo will be out by a different amount every time. Now I can jjust recalibrate the elecxtric one every time I get a new set of tyres.
