I have to fit a few bits to little brothers R33. Stupid thing is the harder stuff, cams, clutch etc are not an issue however when it comes to the FMIC piping I can't say ive ever paid attention to how its been done on skylines.

The piping will be 2.5inch and he wants it to cross over ontop of the fan, do people normally cut a bit off each fan blade, or have the pipe just touching the bonnet?
It has to cross here as the car is low and a cross over under he car would either hit every speed bump or be torn off when he comes up the driveway.

Only other solution would be to fit a pair of thin thermos but its a cost that would be good to avoid if possible.

Hey my bro is good at piping he might be able to have a look at it. He just finished a mates 2j cressida. He can probably do the whole thing if you couldnt be arsed.

Do it the same way as mine and James's piping.

All you have to do is put a hole under the battery tray on the side of the panel, rather than the top of the tray so you dont need to go ripping out the r33 fuse box. James's fit without chopping the fan, mine didn't so i had to get thermos.

So james' did fit without cutting the fan then.
I have looked at it today and it fits but just touches on the bonnet. Might just trim 10mm off the fan.

I knew yours needed thermos but he wants to keep the clutch fan for now if possible.

Brad, here is mine. It did hit the bonnet but I dont think it hits anymore after I took it off again. Im glad I got to keep my engine fan, I not much of a fan of thermos. I didnt trim my fan either, I have a couple of mm to play with and it hasnt hit yet :lol:

you really should have a fan shroud on that, otherwise you'll be much better off with thermos anyway :)

my water temp sits at 70 degrees.

where's the sensor?

70 is lower than what the thermostat should be...

I have a huge single thermo and the temp has never moved more than a few degrees from the thermostat setting.

Sensor is top radiator hose, same place as Daves and Anthonys. On a really hot day sitting in traffic it will hit about 85 - 90 degrees but Ive only ever seen that once.

lucky so far :P

Just be careful if you're going slow up a long hill in traffic on a hot day.

Without the shroud the fan can't suck air through the radiator properly so you're relying more on forward motion.

hahaha a little faith Andrew!! It hasnt seen anything higher then 87degrees and that was sitting in traffic for ages!

Im always looking at the guage so I am careful :wink:

mine sits at 78 at idle, 78 in traffic on a hot day, 78 on the freeway, 78 going up big hills, etc, etc, etc :P
