Which is the right wire for the knock sensor from the ECU? My knock sensor is currently faulty so rather then replacing it I'll be removing it totally but in order to do this I need to know which one is the correct wire.

Any input would greatly be apperciated. :)

removing the knock sensor is not generally a good idea...

It might not eb faulty at all, you might have some other problem causing the engine to ping like mad and the ECU's doing all it can to save it...

If it really is faulty why not just replace it?

I was told by few of the GTiR guys to take it out, saying that the knock sensor only work at very low revs and theres not way a motor can knock at that low revs unless the motor is totally screwed.

how much can I pick up a knock sensor for?Because removing it will cost be under $20.

removing it is free, you just unplug the cable from the sensor, which is under the intake manifold.

the most likely place for an SR20 to knock is around the 3000rpm mark, and that's why the sensor is there.
The only reason the engine won't normally knock is that the ECU can detect it and prevent it.

Umm are you sure about that? i dont think you can simply unplug the knock sensor. I was under the impression that you needed to loop the wiring (using a resistor? or something) from the ECU, doing this the ECU will think the knock sensor is in working order....

that's possible.
It depends on whether a knock sensor error will put the ECU into limp mode.
If it doesn't then it might run fine, but have an error code.

Still, either way I certainly wouldn't be removing it.

replace with a 1k ohm resistor

dont run it like that for long tho

How much do knock sensors go for anyway? Will I be able to get it through nissan?

should be able to.

or someone would have one spare.

I have a spare one from an old engine, but I use it on my knock listening device
