How does a car behave if the TPS sensor is faulty? My idling is a bit screwed up, rev varies from 1000rpm to 500rpm. Also will the tps affect acceleration? If I flat foot from 4500rpm to 7k, the car goes but you can tell there’s something holding it back. Basically you don’t get any results if you rev it up from 4500-7k (seems like you are still doing 4500....makes any sense?) I've gotten the o2 and afm checked out and their fine. Would dirty injectors make the car behave like this (the car was sitting in the garage for nearly 9-12minths without being started?. Thanks in advance guys p.s I also just changed the fuel pump. |

take it off measure it with a multimeter check for resistance, i dont know what its supposed to be offhand, but if yoiu apply 12v(i think) and gnd, when you turn it, you should get 0-5v |

This problem sounds very similar to mine. I just didn't think to link the 02 sensor together. I have varying idle revs and when accelorating from 4.5k and on there ain't no power gain, the revs raise, but the power doesn't. I'm in the process of trying to get larger injectors in hope this is where the problem lies. I think my injecctors may be dirty, so if I'm gonna take them off, I may as well upgrade... |

if you want to find out if its your O2 sensor. unplug it and go for a drive. if your problem goes away (ie flat spot) then thats what it was. as for a TPS, you cant drive without it, well, i bet you can but its not advisable lol |

I am pretty sure its a freaking tps, quite a few workshops have pointed it out. Umm anyone off the forum willing to lend me their tps just to check

Think I will try the o2 sensor tomorrow, will also reset the ecu and try the other coils. As for the TPS, where is it located ? If we are having the same problem then I dont think trying mine will help, but if I can get my car running I am happy to do so. |

its attached to the throttle body, its got 3 or 4 - maybe 5 - wires and its on the shaft of the butterfly on the opposite side of the throttle spring/cable |

I spoke to JustJap yesterday about the tps sensor.....there are 2 (or was it 3?) types of tps. The tps sensor in a 180 sr20 is different to a silvia (s13) sr20. He also mentioned something about a auto having a different tps to a manual (dont know how its related). |

Hi guys What sort of voltage rating should the tps sensor have? From memory i think theres 4 wires going into it. Any ideas? |

0-5V range i think something like 0.48V at idle it's meant to be adjusted to. |

Have you tried pulling the trouble codes from the ECU? A faulty/disconnected knock sensor could also cause shitty performance. See what the ECU is complaining about before you do anything else. |

True... Any guidelines on how to do that? I've checked on the web but cant seen to find anything on 180sx sr20det. How do you activate the mode and how can i get hold of error codes? |
