Hi guys before you all start asking, nope i got no pics SORRY...

Well a friend of mine gave Mr gutter a kiss a couple of nights ago(180sx), he has described to me the damage and now will describe to you guys and see if you can "guesstimate" the cost for repairs...

He hit the gutter after losing control, he mounted his front left tyre on the gutter and back down again... Visual damages where car was low so had some -camber but now he said it got +camber, the tyre is now actually touching the rear part of the arch and on impact it has pushed the front quarter panel out by about 1cm, a quick look under the car and he noticed a joint snapped... that is all...

what do you guys think??? yes it sbreif but remember its only a "guesstimate"... also info like, will he more than likely have screwed up his coilovers or not??? would be sweet...

His getting the car checked today so will you guys know who came closes..

At least $1000.

Control arms will most likely be stuffed.

Coilovers might be bent :(

And also depends, if their has been any chassis damage that price can go up extremely quickly.

Yeah i reckon in the region of $1000 as wel, coilover is most likely gone and if he's unlucky the strut top might be twisted to (this popped the quarter out a bit maybe??)

Dammit I've had an S13 control arm I've been trying to get rid of for ages, driver side. But everyone hits gutters on the passenger side.

Think about someone else next time you bastards... :P

People are often very unpleasantly suprised at how much some minor looking stuff can often cost!

I hope for your sake it's a cheap exercise!!

His been quoted $1600 to fix up... He brought the car to his mechanic so unsure if his a suspension expert but from what he told me its gonna cost him like $1600 for parts and labour for like 4-5 bent/snapped items that are visible by eye and after that his mechanic said he'll try to align the car and then he'll be able to see what else needs to be done... like if coilovers are rooted/rims/anymore slightly bent arm etc...etc...

do you think thats fair??? i feel its a bit dodgy but i haven't had any experience in this stuff and have never met the guy(mechanic) or seen his work...

Why don't you just replace everything that you can see is bent/snapped yourself?

And then pay like $30 for a wheel alignment, which will tell you if the chassis is straight too.

Go from ther with the expensive stuff and mechanics.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I had a similar instance in my car, and I have replaced the lower control arm and the whole steering rack. Since I did all this my car still pulls left and turns left better than right, what can I do from here? Can a suspension place tell me what is bent because wheel aligners can't?
