does the 180sx have any standard limiters built into it ??

When I took my 180 out for a bit of a burn a few months back, I was pushing it thru 2nd and she went around to 7,500rpm and didn't bounce, scared the shit outta me as I thought it should have bounce somewhere around there so I switched gears, naturally as it's past it real "power band" anyway.

the rev limiter is at 7600 rpm for the SR20, and a little bit higher for the CA I think.

Speed limiters are at 180km/h, but usually the speedo will overread quite a lot at those speeds, so the needle will go off the scale before you hit the limiter.

The rev limit on the 180sx is set too high really.

On my S14a it cuts in at around 7100 rpm.

why's it too high??

btw - the CA18 is 7700.

The limiter will also kick in if you are over 7400 for more than 5 seconds.

I am sure nissan set the rev limits at a safe / reasonable rpm... after all they designed the damn motors :)

They are on all Jap sports cars. It is a law over there to have them all limited to 180. GTR's 180's silvias, soarers.....

The K class cars were all limited to 140.....like my cappo. :)

A jap s15 silvia is limited to 180 but the aussie spec can keep on going....weird. The government does not like imports but they allow some strange things to happen on locally sold cars

something similar to a speed cut defender will do it, or an apexi RSM has that function. i have used it myself and can confirm that it works well.
