I was having a look at my exhaust the other day (only noticed it coz the engine is out of the car :P) and it seems to be squashed down a bit as it runs back into the manifold. I have a 3inch turbo back exhaust...now what I mean is it looks like the piping has been squashed down to fit onto the bolts on the manifold

is that normal or has the previous owner done a dodgy ??

If its squashed in a way that makes a kink facing into the airflow path, then there would be definate restrictions, and therefore power loss. It depends how big the kink is though.

do you mean it's squashed out of round where it joins the flange that bolts onto the turbo outlet?

If so, that's normal, because the turbo's turbine outlet is only 2", and the 3" exhaust has to fit over that, and also the wastegate area (beside the turbine) so it has to be squashed into more of an oval shape.
