It looks like there's a lot of room in there. Not a tight squeeze at all.

that is very nice work there, i dont think it would throw off the balance much too much, about the same as an RB donk.

The engine itself isnt that long, arent they alloy engines too? the 1UZFE is the toyota 4.0V8 if i remember

he's already been grilled about the use of a Toyota engine over a Q45.

Still, when you want 1000hp - you gotta say goodbye to the CA18DE because it's not going to happen

Some dude on SAU forums dropped in a Q series V8 into his R33, and it looked like a tight fit. Engine looked pretty ugly too :-?

I love that car,it's a really clean job,and would be fantastic to drive around. as there are manual bellhousings available for the 1UZ now as well, that would be the icing on the cake to go to a supra 5 spd.

the 1UZFE is what's in the front of my Celsior. they're 32valve,quad cam 4.0l all alloy v8's so they weigh bugger all.
I'd be willing to bet less than an RB20,so if the RB20 conversion is average balance-wise,the lexus would be better, keeping it closer to the SR in terms of chassis balance, but with four times the low down torque, and a very linear power delivery.

my car made 144kw atw at the last dyno day at unigroup, and all it has done to it is a dual 2 1/2" cats-back exhaust. this thing is running aftermarket management, coilpacks (std setup is twin dizzys and two coils),a half decent induction pipe and fibreglass wrapped std manifolds.
if he's upped the rev limit from std and put some cams in it it'll scream.

just for interest's sake there's a mob in canberra that sell a bolt-on supercharger kit for the soarers that could be made to fit this S13 (and my car 8) ) that pushes 9psi of pressure into the manifold and will take the engine to ~225kw atw without opening it up or working the ecu.
these engines rock!!!

no worries, just make sure you hand me the cash for it when I give you the keys... $12k will be fine.

they're actually getting cheaper all the time mate,so I suggest you look around a bit. I saw a guy in nth sydney last week who had the spec above mine,in the same colour, with a few aftermarket bits on the car already, and he told me it cost him $10k.... hell of a car for that price!

I ask myself the same question every time someone puts an RB into a Silvia.

At least V8s have a traditional Aussie "cool factor" about them. Its like seeing people cramming Windsors into Minis - the thing would be vehicular suicide in a cute little bodyshell, but its still pretty fucking cool :)
