Hi all.
Have any of you fitted a Malpassi fuel regulator to a standard CA18 fuel rail?
I got the regulator today and went to fit it. I was told I should be able to scew a nipple into the original fuel rail to connect to the new fuel reg.
It appears though, that the standard fuel reg is sealed by an o-ring and is simply pushed into place and held in with two small screws.

Obviously that doesnt leave me a whole lot of options.

Any help is appreciated.

Howdy...
well I ended up doing it myself.
Heres what I did...
I took the old regulator off.
I cut the regulator away from the flange using a hacksaw, leaving the side with the o-ring in tact.
I then filed the cut side of the flange flat.
I bought a barb and braised it to the flange.
Heres some pics:

Hope that helps people in the future!

Well the car is "running".
I'm still fixing the intercooler pipework, so I dont know yet.
You wont get any more power unless your car was running lean.
What it WILL do though, is let you run some more boost by increasing pressure in your fuel rail so that your injectors will flow more.
So without changing anything else, you shouldnt expect any more power.

I'll email you the pics.

Cheers.

Ok, well the story is that I had the car on the dyno, but when they went to 18lbs (yes I have forged pistons :P), the bottom cooler pipe kept blowing off, which is why I'm re-doing the pipework.

They also said that up at 18lbs the standard fuel pressure reg was starting to get a bit flakey and I could get a bit more out of it by upping the fuel pressure a little bit which is why I'm putting on the malpassi.

I'm running standard internals besides the forgies, RB20 air flow meter, 550cc RX7 injectors, big front mount, ball bearing GT28 and 3 inch zorst.

With these changes we should get 180+kw at the wheels.

with those changes you should be seeing around 220kw easily.. a guy that i know is using a z32 afm,rb25 tb, 440cc injectors, 450hp rb garrett turbo, electric water pump, fmic, remap ecu (hes a tuner btw) and he got 224kw@rw @ 18psi. thats stock internals, stock head (butterflys were removed out of intake). no forged internals at all :o

Alittle off the topic but what they hell you showd me yours i'll show you mine

i'll be running

forged pistons (APEP)
Race preped rods
Linished and nightrited crank
balanced bottom end (billet steel lightned flywheel, xtreme clutch also balanced good for 300+kw@rw  )
ported head (unknown yet but opening up the ports to 4 from 8 on the intake) 3 angle grind
260 tomei cams
Tomei valve springs
Sr20 auto tb
Malpassi rising rate fuel reg (2:1)
660cc injectors
Hybrid fmic
Power FC or Remap
3" zaust
Trust turbo kit (td0518g) or GT Turbo (with tuned length manifold)
PWR GTR radiator

Will be looking at a reliable 250kw@rw hopefully alittle more.

Im at the stage where the engine is fully back together (almost 2 years in the making :o ) and in the engine bay. (i currently have a stock head on it until i build the other one and run the engine in)The car should be running this weekend. then i run it in and over the next 6 or so months i'll be putting together all the pieces and parts for the new head :D (probably sooner since im getting all the parts pretty quick). Biggest thing im undesided on which turbo i shall be running.

'kin 'ell mate... mine is just a baby compared to that ;)

I used to have a mk1 escort with a 13B turbo which ran a 12.1 on the quarter with no traction (215 tyres is all I could fit  )

I've had enough of spending a crapload on my cars. I have 3 bikes now

I just want this thing to be reliable for a track day really.

hybrid: I have a similar setup but with stock injectors and AFM. I was recently thinking of upgrading my fuel pres reg too, so please let us know how it all goes.

Well I just drove it home from the mechanics, and my f'ing water pump has started leaking! Its less than 6 months old!

So theres another few hundred bucks gone!
I'm gonna see the parts shop I bought it from either tomorrow or saturday and see if they will replace it free. I think they should!

Anyway.. back to the topic at hand. I turned the boost up (naughty me) on the way home.. and at 17lbs.. HOLY COW.

So enough of that crap. When I see the results on the dyno I will let you know.
