a 180sx pulled up to my work and you could tell it was a ca18det model before he even got out . He walks over to the cabinet and says hes looking for a bov nah actually a wastegate nah i mean a bov he says . I tell him he is obviusly looking for a bov and it will have to have an adaptor welded on so i said pop the bonnet ill show you where it goes. I said cause they dont make an adaptor for the ca18 engine. He then starts trying to tell me it is a 2.0L and its a sr20 motor while we are looking right at it. LOL he goes mate this is sr20det trust me i know , i said let me show you something we walked around to the otherside and i said look at the compliance plate. CAPACITY 1800cc .. he goes FFAARRKK i just got ripped off the guy i bought it off said it was sr20 engine , at this point i just walked back inside cause i couldnt believe how stupid this guy was ...

that was my funny of the week anyway

Too funny

It definately pays to do your research before buying a car.

Imagine all the people who thought they bought GTR's and actually only
bought badged up GTS-T's :o

I hate it when people are convinced that they are correct and whatever you say is wrong, at least that guy acknowledged he made a stupid mistake..

But the mechanic who tried to convince me to put a SR20DET from a .... GTI-R ....in my car.. didn’t.....

You should put an SR20DET from a GTiR into your Silvia. It makes more power, and has quad throttle bodies.

It might take a little work to adapt the transmission etc, but the mechanic will do you a cheap deal on labour etc. :D

Of course you can blame the buyer. Caveat emptor, baby.

Its not all his fault (since the seller flat-out lied to him), but if someone looks under the hood and still has to ask if its a certain type of engine, any buyer can smell a sucker when they see one.

If I go shopping for stuff I know little about, I take someone I know and trust with me to scope it out. Its not like dropping into a retail store, where you've got the Dept of Fair Trading etc watching your back and you can go and kick up a stink.

he also mentioned he wanted it removable so if he wanted sometimes he could unscrew it but if he wants it on he can screw it on to make the noise

People try that Dept. of Fair Trading crap on me all the time. I say go ahead, they never follow up with it because they know they are wrong.
