So not even the late model 1997 type X had this? I thought those cars were pretty much S14 spec with 5 stud hubs VCT blacktop etc or maybe i was just looking at late model cars that had been converted?

They are all s13 all the way!!!

No VCT nor 5 stud.......

dude have a read of the above posts^ s13 180sx sr20 blacktops do not come with VCT.....

VCT is single stage cam timing, where Vtec is a stage higher...as ive read

VCT changes the timing (at a certain revs it clicks from one spot to another on the cam gear using a hydralic actuation) Vtec changes the whole cam profile. The Vtec cam has two sets of lobes on it, a low and high rev set, so it's essentially two cams machined onto each stick. At a certain revs the rocker arms on the first set of lobes locks with a set of arms on the second set of lobes and starts moving with the second set of lobes for the cam profile. Bad description but thats how it works.

180's dont come with VCT nor T28's.

The only difference i think is the blacktops were younger engines!
