I was thinking of purchasing some cams in the not too distant future, but I am undecided as what to get. What would be the main differences between stage 2 and stage 3 cams ?? What would be the difference power wise, driveability and overall performance ??

You will have to list your mods first, or planned mods.

There no way to answer the question with the info supplied.

Step ones will probably do you fine, but that just my assumpton.

And we can assume you are talking specifically about hks cams, but it is stil possible you could be referring to generic stages of aggression over many brands.

I'll take a punt and say that until you are going for big high mount turbos the most you will need is step 1. TMB will agree that the 264/264 set will offer next to no drivability loss over the 256/264 with a bit more top end to boot.

The beauty of the HKS step ones is that no further mods are needed... eg: Step 2's require up spec valve springs, Step 3 requires springs + Lash Killer kit..... as l6a6w6s6 said, the Step 3's are pretty extreme, and not what you'd look at for a comfortable streeter :)

If youre just looking for a pick me up for your daily driver, i'd go with the step 1's.

yeah, sort of looking for a fair wack of power but still have a fairly comfortable car to drive daily, I'm looking to have a good mix of big power, fast track times but still use it as a daily cruiser

Mate, if you can work that secret out, you're gonna be a millionaire :D

Really it depends how realistic the figures are you're after, as opposed to what you do with the car. It is possible to have a quick *street* car, but once you start chasing those 'big' numbers, driveability is unfortunately a sacrifice. Keep in mind though, anything running 12's (not half as easily acheivable as some people would think) is going to be pretty much untouchable on the street

Remember, the more mods, the less reliability :) And of course, the less places you can park the thing LOL
