Hi All,

I purchased a K&N Air Filter and can't work out how to install this. I thought i should just take the old airbox out and install the new one but then the air intake...where does the air come from as it's going to the air box.

I am after some help, if you are free email sales@payam.com.au or PM me, i am willing to pay for your time. I don't have the correct tools..I live near North Ryde. If you can help install this for me i'm happy to pay for your time and provide beers during the install.
:)

Hopeing somebody is free this Sunday.

Thanks in advance!
Payam

Ok you confused me.
If you remove the air box and if you baught the correct airfilter, it should just bold up to the air flow meter.
Where does the air come form?? Well do you think that if you close you bonnet its an air tight area??? It will suck hot air from the engine bay, and if you have left the standard snorkel in place, this will give you some cold air when you are moving.
This is why people get partitions made up and installed so it will not suck very hot air in.
You have a few options,
When your standard intercooler is gone, you can move your air filter down there, but it may get a tad dirty.
Or you can feed cold air from there to your air filter.
APS had a side snorkel that fed from the wheel arch into the stock air box.
It's all a comprimise. Hot air, Defectable and Louder induction sound and if your lucky you might get the flutter bro.

maybe a picture is needed to clarify things, but a pod installation should be fairly straight foward.

just unbolt the 4 screws that hold the stock airbox to the afm pipe, screw the adaptor on, then screw the pod onto the adapter.
all u need is a wrench man.

i orginally thought it was the k'n' N panels, but it seems to like a pod, do you have the air filter pod adaptor: (the silver adaptor directly behind Rush pod, also note the heat partitions)

Image

and the snorkel that MYS15T mentioned: (pic shows example from s14)
Image

or just buy those air conditiong silver pipes from bunnings and use that as a cold air feed, or simultaneusly with snorkel

Sorry if i was not clear.

Image

I bought an air filter like the one in the pics but my one is red/pink it's a K&N, it's not the same shape as the stock air filter. It's not the flat rectangluar one. It's round like a large can of baked beans but kind of pyramid shaped.

I had hoped to take the old air box off, bold this air filter on then BINGO..hissing away with a new air filter.

BUT, i don't have the tools, i'm worried i'm going to make a mess of it. I don't have any partition of any sort.

I was given the air filter in the box and a seperate mettle bracket (where you screw it on)...it looks very similar to the one on the pic.

My questions.

1. Do i need a partition
2. Do i leave the stock air intake there or take it off? (i don't think it will connect to anything).
3. Do i need to buy anything else?

I would love for some1 with some spare time to drop in, take a look and help me out.

P.S I saw 'TopSecret' a forum member near my house 2day @ Shell, had a quick chat about it, he had a custom ordered one from japan he said cost $600, stainless steel air box and air filter in it, looked very cool!

Any help would be apreciated. I'm very anxious to get this fitted.

connections should be:

stock AFM => pod adaptor => air pod itself

leave the intake pipe behind the afm as is

pod works better with partition and cold air induct

also may need a metal brace as in photos above to hold air pod in place especially during intake

pods are defectable.

if u can play lego u can install a pod mate. the factory airbox is held by a few screws, just unscrew it and take it out, then bolt ur pod on....
u can worry about a partition and cold air feed later....

I'll be @ Work on Monday only then i'll be @ Summer School @ Maq Uni for 6 weeks.

I'll try to install it myself today but as mentioned i don't have the tools i need, i'm going to have to go out today to buy it.

Yesterday, I was heading out to Manly to have a day out to the beach.

Hi Payam,

Sounds like you need help from Power Tool Man! HaHa!
I am sure that something can be knocked up with some ply wood or alluminium sheeting!

PS: How did you go with your boost gauge install?

Cheers! :D

Hi,

Great News!

I went out , purchased a tool kit, spent an hour on it and took the old airbox out, installed the new air filter.

I just need help to build a partition to keep the air filter a bit cleaner.

It sounds awesome!

Can anybody help me with a parition for the air filter?

P.S Silverstreak, i purchased the A-Pillar Nissan brand gauge holder for $148 @ Unique Auto Sports and i am looking around for a Gauge still.

Thanks everybody for your help
