I just got my S13 Silvia a bit more than a week ago and I'm looking for a cost effective way to improve handling. The car is at stock height at the moment and has a bit of body roll when cornering fast or drifting.

Is worth buying a strut bar? Will this reduce body roll? I can fit it with standard suspension, right?

I know most people will say just buy a cheap one, as they do the same thing, but is there ANY difference at all? Even a little?

Anyone know how much a Cusco or a genuine Nismo bar will cost?

A front strut brace is definately worth the $120

Then I would recommend lowered springs or new struts.

And after that a swaybar possibly.

All up not too much cost and will improve alot

I think they're still there. I got mine for $89 and it's exactly the same as the brand name ones. They did go up to $120 though

Strut brace changes the feel of the car a bit, but doesn't generally improve handling. I found I could take some corners faster with the strut brace, and others it made no difference on. It does stiffen up the whole front of the car though.

For body roll a swaybar is the best thing (~$200 from Whiteline)

If your shocks are old then it's worth replacing them too, and while you're at it go for some slightly lower and stiffer springs.

yeh as mayhma said, Strut brace is well worth it, driven my car with strut bar off, definately worth the price,
and lowered springs is also imo a definate, should be able to get them for $330ish.

Get a rear one too. i rekon it made a bigger difference on my S13 than the front one did.

after putting a strut brace in I noticed the handling was more ' responsive' and I could push it a little harder in turns, ofcourse this was helped by the lower springs tho...

but its such a cheap mod, worth it for sure.

Just Jap have a special, strut braces from $89 !!!!!

Now thats a good cheap mod that is worth it

Mine also helped with high-speed handling too. Stopped the car getting so wobbly and 'uncontrollable'

get some sway bars too. then get some good suspension with adjustable dampers, even adjustable height if you can too.

true, but.. they dont exactly fit "flush".... ( on 1.8 or 2.0 )



Eventually I will try to, I would like to replace the standard shocks, get swaybars, rear strut etc. ( just a money issue, IE I have none)
