Post subject:  Stupid car thief

In a case that’s likely to go down in history books for all the wrong reasons, US police arrested a man after he reported missing the car he’d recently stolen.

Gregory Alston called Baltimore police after he couldn’t find his ‘new’ car and feared it had been taken by unscrupulous thieves.

The reason for its absence was simple.

The white Nissan Maxima had been towed away by police after it was found by its owner only half a mile away from where it had been originally stolen two weeks previously.

Police told The Sun newspaper the car was stolen in a carjacking on April 20 by an armed man wearing a black bandana.

After admitting to the theft, Alston was arrested and charged with armed robbery, possession of a stolen car and a handgun violation.

The reason for the super sleuth’s call to the police was straight forward – he thought he’d lost his wallet inside the car.

Experienced police officers, not used to such gifts in the mouth, found the 20-year-old’s actions hard to believe.

Faced with disbelief from his superiors, Detective Gregory Jenkins, who didn’t even need to dust the car for fingerprints, signed off his report with the summary "Again, this really happened."
