Friend of mine had one done as a requirement of his engineering certificate. You basically book with the RTA but be aware that there is a long waiting list (6+ Weeks) as i think there are only 2 testing stations in Sydney. The actual testing is done on a special dyno.

Like most people do you basically save your current maps get the car tuned to pass the test, then put your normal maps back once it passes :D

Also hide the Ecu/handset and wiring as well as you can, if you haven't already.

They sometimes check inside for an aftermarket ecu.

I've had one done... its now been a year since.

Got my tuner to lean it out just to make sure i'd PASS... What they do is they drive your car on to a dyno theres a camera at the front and at the back, both cameras are mounted on the floor so it pretty much gets the underside of your car (yes you can see your car on TV :o ) theres a monitor at the front of the car that he looks at, which tells him when to change gears/what gear and how fast to go, suppose to simulate road conditions...

The dude that done my car (penrith RTA) was a nice bloke i suggest you go there...
