Fergo is right and the problem is the S shaped hose you have craeting an air lock. You relly need to get a proper thermo and run it with a better hose setup than what you have now.

nah, they're not. they'll only move from the normal operating level when the engine has already blown up. the S14 one doesn't rise from midway until the engine is already at 112degrees!! so from 86deg. to 112 it's reading the same level... pretty useful that...

I have an aftermarket gauge. It may not be accurate, but it indicates a tempreture change none the less.

I think I've sorted out the problem. I put on some twin 12" fans. Its given me the chance to run a straight cross pipe as opposed to the stupid kinked 'S' pipe.

The temp doesn't vary on angle and in general is more constant. I have a slight problem with air flow at high driving speeds so I'll make up an aluminium tunnel to aim the flowing air more acurately.

Thanks for everyones input.

Razor have you used cable ties to kinda secure the fans??

I swear this guys engine was held in with cable ties.

YEP!

The entire unit is sort of wedged in there (it was a really tight fit) and two cable ties at the top. Presto!
