hmm, sounds like they're covering themselves against peoples cooked turbos by saying you should remove the blanket from the red hot turbo before you park the car!

So the question remains if I was to HPC the manifold, turbo exhaust housing and use a blanket will this lead to the turbos demise or are they just being paranoid with that statement about the blanket.

If you hpc the housing then the blanket is pretty much redundant isn't it? They both serve the same purpose after all.

thats what ive been lead to beleive dave, my exhaust housing, manifold and dump pipe have all been HPC coated and have been told a blanket is overkill, would only need it for the wank factor the only problem ive had from my turbo (internal gate) was the actuator arm blew off on the GWH after giving the accelerator a good workout, no boost, had to baby the car for 2kms home

i would rather coat then use a blanket, the coat will actually help reduce the heat the housing absorbs, whereas a blanket will simply keep what it has, stored for longer. coating anything after the exhaust housing on the turbo, such as the dump pipe, serves no purpose other then keeping underbonnet temps down, there is no performance gain

Also coating the inside of manifolds is becoming popular and I have seen a few worth while results on both turbo and NA dinosaur engines.
