How do you remove the DIFF?
I just bought a new 2way with casing, and want to try and fix it myself.

- Jack the rear end up
- Dump the oil from the diff or it could go everywhere when you pull it out
- Undo the tail shaft, 4 x 12mm bolts/nuts.
- Undo the driveshafts, either 6 bolts of 5 bolts either side
- Put another jack under the diff to take its weight
- Undo the 4 large nuts at the rear that hold ti into the subframe
- Undo the 2 large bolts up the front that bolt it upto the body
- Free the diff from the subframe and drop it down

Dont think i missed anything there. But it is a pain in the ass doing it on your back on the shed floor by yourself

Dont rest the tail shaft on top of the exhaust either like i did lol, when it falls off, it hurts

pretty much what he said but make sure u use jack stands!! last thing u want is a car in the face...:D its a bit of a twist n pull to get the diff to come out, it can be a bit arkward coz its heavy n ur upside down hehe...

get someone else to do it.

When the diff drops you'll do more than chip a tooth if your head is in the way.

Or alternatively, once you have all the bolts on the tail shaft and driveshafts undone and have the 6 bolts/nuts that hold the diff up loosened, put a jack under the diff, then finish undoing stuff.

As mentioned you have to slide it forward (and twist to free the shafts if you have 6 bolt drive shafts as they are a stupid design).

Getting it back in is the hard part. I've found that hooking the input flange over the swaybar helps a lot, then you just have to man up for long enough to lift the back and get a jack under it.

Im a skinny little bloke and I managed to get it back up with the aid of someone and a trolly jack, so its do-able. Just dont put your body between the diff and the ground. I actually got the car high enough in the air so I could just put the diff on the trolly jack, then wheel it under, then jack it up.

and by someone who is confident and experienced enough to not have to ask the question in the first place.
