Post subject: Already Full/Paid!!! : SilviaNSW Skidpan Day Sat 17th Nov
Hi Everybody!

I have now got a day locked in for an official SilviaNSW SkidPan day

The confirmed date is Saturday 17th November. It is being held at Oran Park Skidpan through Automotion (Aaron Macgill)

Numbers at this stage are locked at 20. This means you will get heaps of tracktime, so bring spare tyres.

Entry is $195 per driver

Helmets are options, as are gloves
Pants are required (zei)! as are shirts.
Covered shoes are required (no thongs badhairdave)

The plan will be to run a dry slalom at one end for drift or timed sessions, and wet/dry skidpan at the other end for doing circuity type stuff.

Payments are now being taken. If you want in, you will have to PM me for bank details, and supply me with your Full Name, Contact Number and email address.

SilviaNSW members will get first preference.

I don't want any PM's from people saying they MIGHT be interested, and I won't be holding any spots for people without payment.

Below is the list of paid entrants and a reserve list. The reserve list is only backup in case anyone in the paid list drops out. It is not a 'Maybe Interested' list.

1. Too_Much_Boost Paid
2. Leif Paid
3. boosted_n13 Paid

Directions
Ok for those that haven't been to this skidpan before, here are some directions. The entrance we are using is Cobbity Road entrance

Snipped from Oran Park Website

--------------------------------
From the city of Sydney

Take the Eastern Distributor past Sydney Airport to the M5 motorway. Follow the M5 to the Camden Valley Way exit.

Follow Camden Valley way to Cobbitty Road, turn right into Cobbitty Road and the Cobbitty Road entrance is less than 5 minutes away.

From the Western Suburbs

Take the M4 to the Northern Road exit and follow Northern Road to Oran Park Raceway. Oran Park Raceway is about 25 minutes from the Northern Road exit of the M4.

From the North of Sydney

Exit the Northern Freeway at Hornsby and follow the pacific Highway into the city, Take the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and follow the directions from the City of Sydney.

From South of Sydney

The easiest way is to find the M5 and take the M5 west to the Beech road exit. Turn left onto Beech road and right onto Camden Valley Way. Continue along Camden Valley way for 15 kilometers and turn right into Cobbitty road. Oran Park is 5 kilometers on the right.

im in. ill be waiting to make the payment.

but can i ask if we can have a look at going back to the eastern creek skidpan? i just felt the surface at oran park was crap and it wasnt that big. eastern creek was good.

and will it be a 'driver training' day or will it be an actual skid session with cone hat markers where we can just let loose as opposed to doing set training scenarios?

either way, i'm in.

mitch do you have any of those 4stud stockies left? i can use them now that i got those darned centre caps off!

Neither Ian Luff nor Aaron MacGill (Automotion) use EC anymore. Apparently they are too difficult to deal with.

The day will be a combination of driver training, and ripping mad skids

nice. hope you get lots of cash-money-paper to spend on your car like i did. my 21st was saturday and i just told my mum to tell all my family to give me cash. add this years tax return as well as hard saving = yayness on my car!!!

but yeah, ill say it again. i'm in for this. hopefully if its iain luff, he'll let us do abit more skidding. thats a shame on EC too, hopefully someone can get something running with them soon.

Dunno where you get the impression there wouldn't be much skidding done with MacGill. He will let us do what I ask. I have already spoken to him about this.

Basically I will say "We want skidz", and he will make that happen.

I like skidz. There will be skidz

i never expressed that regarding macgill. i know macgill will let us skid coz he ran the silviansw EC skidpan day last year and that was all about skidz. i was talking about luff based on the recent oran park skidpan day.

If it's late November I'm interested. My uni exams will be going on early November. The skidpan I went with Macgill this year didn't consist of enough skids. It was more trivial bullshit like handbrake turns and then get back in line for another handbrake turn.

Some of us start the day with tyres that are on the markers, to get our moneys worth out of them (and use 2 sets a day), too_much_skidz uses more because he does animal skids... If you take a set with a fair bit of meat and aren't coming to do burnouts, you wont NEED spares, theyre a good idea incase you run out of rubber and need something to get home on.

Since this is classed as a 'Driver Training Day', and has qualified instructors on hand, no CAMS licence is required

blu80 wrote:

IDA days are cheaper as there isn't instructors, and normally around double the amount of cars hence half the track time

too_much_boost - Tue Nov 06, 2007 7:30 pm
Post subject:
8 and 9 are good for 215/235 or 235/235 or 235/255 combos

I don't think you will find a set of rims that have +20F and +30R. You will have to settle with something else and use bolt-on spacers like the rest of us
Tiop - Tue Nov 06, 2007 7:34 pm
Post subject:
yeah ive already got spacers in the front on my 18's but i was thinking they would make the front brakes fade quicker as it wont transfer heat to the the rim as well, obviously hill blimb this wont matter but for a few lap sprint it might ?

+35 at the back would be better plenty of gaurd clearance that way. (stock gaurds no rolling by the way)

homerrules ahs some 17's that are about right for offsets but they are mostly flasher then i want more $

AVS Model 6 , 17x8+30, 17x9+35 might be close enough when front shocks compress does the tire chamber over more ive got -1.5 front time to go measure some stuff again.

Its going to be damn close for me !

Went to install new Xforce dump this weekend and its a good 2" too long... GRRRRRR

Took my old cracked dump pipe to a mates work and re-welded it agian, now its bright red (only paint I had around that would withstand the heat is my red caliper paint) and after installing on the car it seems I have blown a gasket.

Still need to fix this before I can resolve my other "issues" and get to the day....

If you are desperate and can't get if off, you can head over to my place and use my tools.

I had to modify one of those claw tools.

Also autobarn now sell a tool that is like a cup that fits nicely over the filter, with a fitting for a 3/8 ratchet extension. Looks like it would save alot of hassles.

Some of us will be meeting at thornleigh maccas saturday morning, to get there around 8 i'd say we'd have to leave right on 7, no later. So yeah, get yourselves there by 6.30 for shit-talking and bad food. I think if we leave a touch earlier you miss all the traffic lights and get a sik run, doesn't matter.

We'll take the cumberland to the end past livo kks, right onto the hume, then vere off right to camden valley way, then vere off left at that intersection and go down past that el calebrancho horse thing and take the oran turnoff. I've done it before, don't worry.

Last SNSW skidpan I fitted 8 wheels/tyres, I usually use the rest of the space for the other kind of tools And a spare diff for good measure!

How to pack a silvia:
2 wheels go in the spare's wheel well
4 across the rear seat
two on top of rear seat flat with the parcel shelf, Then you have room on the right hand side of the boot, passenger seat and footwell, and under/behind the seats for anything else, ie, spare diffs!

^^There was so much time behind the wheel I got my moneys worth easy, and used more rubber than i was expecting!! I was in a borrowed car and you can only stretch your luck so far.. Having no power steering gets tiring too **I bet anthony calls me soft now!**

Mad fun day! Also, thanks to Leif for letting me have a drive of his car (my old car ) It was a big shock getting back into a car with powersteering halfway through the day - there no steering feel at all!!

Hope everyone had a fun day. Fortunately there was no major incidents.

I got followed home by highway patrol. That wasn't tops at all. Strangely enough they didn't even pull me over even though my car was full of rims, and covered in rubber and mud and other random crap

Dave organised the last skidpan day by himself, I organised this one by myself. That said, I did send Dave down to get the drinks last night when he was a bit drunk so he did contribute

Thanks mitch, but i had very little to do with the organization or running of this one, pretty much everything except the drinks was organized by tmb.

Ah wrong, according to the little fat man, they are FWDs, and a FWD car won the motorkahana 2 years in a row, thus they are faster and better than a 200rwkw drift setup S13 on slalom, FYI.
