Yes Peeps this is going to be a massive gathering of members and their cars.
Our last BBQ had over 40 cars on a shitty rainy day, fingers crossed the wether is good.
Lets aim at smashing that attendance record, rekon we can get 80 cars?

This a perfect opportunity for all those forum junkies that never get out to our meets and cruises, come ane meet your fellow club members.
See everyone there.

Usually there are a few meetup points, and the respective groups then cruise down to the BBQ area.

Usually the northern wussies ( ) meet up at Chatswood car park somewhere

West Side brothers, we usually meetup somewhere around liverpool, which i think will be happening again for this BBQ.

Get your CB radios people, NOW !!

Bargo is a hole. It is south of campbelltown on the Hume Highway (the freeway the M5 turns into).

Picton Road runs between the Southern Freeway, near Wollongong, up to and across the Hume Hwy.

To get to Avon Dam you need to:
1) Get onto the M5 southbound
2) Take the Bargo exit
3) Turn left off the Bargo exit

It is slightly more technical if you are coming from the south (the is no northbound exit at Avon Dam Road), but I will probably arrange a meet with GM and Redline closer to the date anyway.

LINK for anyone interested in the dam itself.

Anyone want to lend me some ultra-grippy 18x8, 18x9s? Pass runs would be a daily ritual with that sorta grip

When everyone meets at KK we can cruise down together and own the roads, just like we did the M4 on one of our previous BBQ days.
It was an awesome sight, 40+ silvias taking up all three lanes of the M4.

Closer to ther date we will post meet up details and times.

hey fellas....

so the meat and bread and all is BYO?

or are the admis etc. going to organise meats and bread and have a sausage sizzle, and mabye charge a small fee? this could help fundraising for the club. mabye charging everyone $10 to come along will net them like a "cruise pack" which might consist of a small snsw sticker and food?

just a few thoughts.....
Nismodified - Mon Nov 08, 2004 10:09 am

BYO is the easiest way to do things, and i think it would be better not to burden admins/mods with extra duties of organising food and monies (unless you really wanted to)

Though if someone else wants to do this, it's all good. Cruise pack seems an interesting idea however.

Best bet is, everyone thats friends on here, gang up in smalls teams, and work together to bring food and shit.

My gang:

ThuanSUX_balls: you bring sausages + drinks + beer + sauces + bread
Me: ill bring some napkins

Redline; will you be heading up with Skitzo and myself? Im going to be heading up via wollongong anyway.. (i dont mind heading up earlier and helping set up etc)

Where down there could we get meat from? Ill bring bread+chips or whatever with no worries, and could bring non-alcomoholic beverages.. but they wouldnt be cold as I dont have an esky lol

I could always BUY the stuff, and give it to skitzo to transport (meaning I can go a bit harder down the pass )

The reason we all bring our own stuff is that wastage is kept to a minimum. If the Team catered for 50 people that said they were coming and only 30 showed up then thats quite a bit of food and money wasted.

And if I brought stuff it would be cooked before I got there. Stripped floors get pretty hot.

unless dave wants to trade cars with me at the base of the pass, ousley might be the safer option

this all depends of course as to whether my car is back on the road or not.. it should be done by the end of the week, but PRO FINISH SMASH REPAIRS in BOWRAL, NSW is taking their sweet time about even starting work on the car... Expensive+huge time delays+NFI on imports (was worried about installing coilovers and my rose jointed castor rods.. all straight forward bolt in parts - and I have to source all parts for it coz it wasnt released in oz!!)

If my car isnt ready by then, i might be able to come in my mates Swift.. but thats up to him of course.

Ill even head down there (via the pass), then head back up with you (via the pass... )

Avon dam is around halfway between mittagong and the picton road intersection with the highway.. I could just go through mittagong and up the highway to the avon dam turnoff, but wheres the fun in that?

If my car is finished by then, I might even go via NEWCASTLE just coz ill have coilovers and big brakes muhahaha

My bad... you don't have to come up that way. I looked at the map after posting that and distance wise it is very similar. That said, I know which way I'd rather go

I might pm you guys a proposed meetpoint and you can post it here if you decide to come up through the highlands.

Not really mate...

It is freeway almost all the way there. That 8km is once you're past the gate and it's 40km/hour speed limit. We don't need any mishaps due to people driving beyond their limits *not aimed at anyone in particular*, the bbq's are intended as leisurely social days (I think there will be a fair few 'spirited' driving cruises upcoming over summer if that's your thing anyhow).

It will still be fun, but sensibly - just like the cruise after the barby/photo shoot

It a nice and windy road, but there are a few bumpy spots. So if you've got coilover or stiff sus then beware!

I wouldn't wanna get stuck behind slow ppl though! It's a waste! My mates lighter cars (a modded TX3 Turbo and Jap spec B16A Civic) couldn't catch my stock S15 on the twisty bits... hehehe They said that their brakes started to get spongey ... cool, i love my stock brakes

So due to a much larger number of cars we first expected we have decided to move this event from Avon to
Cataract Dam
.
It is closer to Sydney but in the same area.
Directions:
1) Very simple to get there from KK
2) Get on the Hume southbound
3) Take the Campbletown Rd Exit
4) Follow south until it turns into Appin Road, keep heading south
5) Turn right off Appin Road just after the Coal mine on the left.

Swoit! Though I have a JZZ30...

I guess that I'll also have to do something about my air intake before Saturday too, in case of police presence. I didn't manage to complete my BFI last weekend before it got dark..

You more then welcome to come along, but if we fill the carpark at Cataract Dam parking will be showing preference in this order:

1) SNSW Members
2) Silvia's and 180's
3) Any other Nissans
4) Any other cars

It would look pretty stupid for a Silvia based club to have a photo shoot, and we have Silvias miss out, but others included.

Having said that, if we don't fill the car park then ignore the above.

It sounds like this is going to be massive.

Just a quick reminder that the Club will be out on display, we will not tolerate any anti-social behaviour, anyone seen driving irresponsibly or doing burnouts will be banned indefinitely and be labelled a dickhead by everyone here.
If you want to act like that then please don't come.

On another note, please remember your hat and sunscreen, it's going to be hot and sunny.

Mate if a bunch of WRXs are coming you and your S15 are more than welcome!

Does everyone know where Cataract Dam is? From the Hume take the Picton Rd. exit, then 5km down it, left at Wilton Rd. Follow to Appin. If you go through Appin, you will see a sign for Wollongong on a right turn intersection, head that way, travel about 15 klicks and its on the right- you cant miss it.

If you come down from Sutherland way, take the exit to Darkes forest onto Appin Rd. The Dam is 15km or so down this road on the left.

Remember the 5-0 probably know about this cruise by now so be careful with speeding around Appin area, few good spots for them to sit behind crests etc.

See everyone tommorow!

Harry, we will be actually be taking the Campbletown Rd exit and head south down Appin Road.
Taking the Hume all the way out west to Picton Rd makes it too much of journey.

See the green line, thats the way were going to go from KK.

KK is Krispy Kremes, and it's at the Liverpool Megacenta, 2-20 Orange Grove Road, also known as Smithfield Rd,
Cumberland Hwy, and about 10 other names.

And I think that it's a testimony to how good this community is that someone can lose their camera and that the person who found it is honest enough to come forward with the fact. Kudos to you! Not to mention the behaviour of everyone during the cruise and at the BBQ - it could have been very tempting to tear up that grass with the rear wheels, but no-one did. And it only goes to show that just because you have a high-powered vehicle, it doesn't mean that you're a dickhead when driving it.

Sorry i didn't really talk to many people.I was sporting one hell of a hangover.I even had to get my mate to drive my car back home while i recovered! I wish i had the energy to take a shot from the roof at the begining, which would've been great.

The reason we were so late from Chatswood was simply the huge ammount of Saturday morning traffic. We even left on time.

That looks mad with the 3 yellow S15s together and the white and the blue on the side. Which one was your one? Pity i didn't get to meet and chat with u guys.

Anyways congrats to the moderators/organisers for such a great turnout and trouble free (except for being a bit late and ppl getting lost) event. That's the first time i've been to a place with that many Silvias/180sx's!!!

So funny also coz on the way to the Dam, there was a blue S15 and a couple of WRX's were following me and every lane change and i didn't even know where i was going. Eventually i called up my mate for directions and it was sweet. My gf couldn't stop laughing in the car

had fantastic weather. and it was nice that someone fed me (cheers nismodified). the turn out was great, i'd never seen so many sil's parked in one spot. i'm pretty sure everyone had a good time. and managed to pull off some great shots.

and it was good to see that i wasn't the only gti-r there

Thanks for the day guys , twas a shame that it was too hot , we waited far too long for the Northies and that we didnt all manage to stay together from the time we left Livo KKs ....... by the time myself and a few others got out of the centre at KKs we ended up on our own cruise trying to catch up to everyone.

A few of us got lost! i was following a blue s15 & white s14a (stock looking). Went pass Campbeltown exit and i was thinking.....mmm....why ain't they turning......maybe they know their way around, therefore we kept going on the highway! The funny thing is, there are quite a few following us! luckily, we all still manage to find our way there eventually!

Abit unorganized! but a good event to see so many silvias! But the day just tells me, never join a cruise during summer! it's damn hot!

How was it a bit unorganised?

A map was posted on the forums well beforehand with the destination (so you could have used a street directory, or Whereis, to get directions) and the turns were announced well in advance on the CB radios that the club says people should get when they come out on a cruise.

The guys leading the cruise asked the guys on the CB to call each turn-off down the line, since they couldn't guarantee the guys at the end would be able to pick up the signal on hand-held CBs.

Short of:

* buying 80+ CBs and giving them out to everyone (and like the club has a spare $8,000)

* having someone pull over each time and stand there waving people to each bend (and then having them drive like a Skyline / WRX driver to try getting ahead of the entire convoy so they can wave you in to the
next turn)

* Developing a sense of telepathy and using mind control to guide everyone

How could they have managed a convoy of 80 cars to get to a destination better than posting directions and using a radio system to announce each turn-off?

The only thing they could have done was had a few more organisers interspersed in the convoy, to manage relaying those CB calls and ensuring that people in the middle and end followed someone who had an idea of where we were going. That way when we inevitably get split by lights, we don't get groups of drivers with NFI trying to run down the lead group.

Aside from that, they did everything you could reasonably expect.

It wasn't until this comment that I gave a thought to the total value of the cars in attendance... say you work on an average value of $25k....

Also, point well made Scathing. And without a single mention of how many of the drivers with nfi were only in attendance for the speed coverage.

Yeah they were all the ones who left as soon as the cameras stopped taking snaps... go the community spirit! (not!)

...Ahhh is that why so many cars left. I went to go find some sort of food and drink in 'town', only to find on the way back around 30 cars going the other way. I thought they were doing what i was doing.

You can't expect tourists, who aren't members of the communities they visit, to show any of that kind of spirit.

As soon as I saw a bunch of riced up cars leave, I figured it was the non-club members realising that Speed mag was only interviewing actual members with interesting rides.
