Saturday Nights
Saturday
night cruises are the main and most regular event for SilviaNSW
(check forums in advance for dates etc), starting Thornleigh
McDonalds on Pennant Hills Road where we
get together and
head of for a
cruise etc.. Usually about 6-10+ cars turn up to these events
and depending on the ideas on the night we can head of to many
different
locations...
The
usual meeting time is 9:00pm where we head off around 9:30pm and
don't expect to get home earlier than 3:30am.
These
cruises are not just restricted to club members or Nissan car
owners, everyone is welcome and a wide variety of cars can be
expected, from Commodores, Honda's, Bikes and even some top end
show imports.
To
make the night even more interesting you should bring along a
UHF radio, this is how we communicate with each other while driving.
It makes for a fun filled evening while driving and allows us
to keep the group together, not to mention its a hell of alot
cheaper than using your mobile (and less radiation). The
following unit is what most of the club use, it is available from
Dicksmith Electronics (www.dse.com.au):
Uniden UH-040XR Pocket Communicator
Keep in touch with this new pocket
sized UHF Family communicator. It's crisp, clear transmissions
and 40 UHF channels provide up to 3km outdoor line of sight
range, with no airtime costs or user license required. Model
No. UH-040XR.
Cat
No. D1748 A$99

Long Distance Cruises
Apart
from the regular weekly cruises the club also meets up for a Long
distance cruise of sorts to different locations such as Gosford,
Newcastle, Wollongong etc, these events are advertised in the
forum as well as with other Silvia sites such as www.nissansilvia.com,
www.200sx.org, www.silviaaustralia.com
and www.aus-cartalk.com.
Drag
Days
On
special occasions it may be possible to organise proper drag event
days where we can head to Eastern Creek or other such locations
and have a day of legal runs. Once again these events will be
posted in the forums along with all the necessary information
about them. It is important to note that days like this are not
covered at all by most (if not all) insurance companies.
